Product FAQ’s

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) is a wild, tropical yeast, often referred to in the clinical setting as Saccharomyces boulardii or SB Probiotic and has proven gastrointestinal beneficial properties and effects.

Able to grow at very high temperatures (37°C) and resistant to acid, room temperature stable (no refrigeration required) Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) makes the ideal travel companion and adjunct with antibiotic treatment.

Saccharomyces boulardii does not colonise the human intestinal tract. It is a transient yeast that passes through the intestines after ingestion. S. boulardii does not attach to the mucosal cells lining the intestinal lumen but exerts its beneficial effects on the host as it moves through the gastrointestinal tract.

Yomogi®is used to reduce and relieve and occurrence of diarrhoea in adults and children. Yomogi helps reduce the occurrence of travellers’ diarrhoea and symptoms of traveller’s diarrhoea.

Yomogi® also helps support healthy immune system function and can assist maintaining and supporting beneficial gut flora during antibiotic use.

Antibiotic Associated Diarrhoea. (AAD)

One of the most common adverse effects of antibiotics is the development of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea (AAD). This can occur during antibiotic treatment and even some weeks afterwards.

The cause of ADD is usually a toxic effect of the antibiotic on the intestinal mucous membrane and an imbalance or disruption to the normal gut microbiota. This imbalance is often referred to as dysbiosis and characterised by a decrease in microbial diversity.

This imbalance can often allow pathogenic organisms to now colonise and can trigger inflammation.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae (boulardii) HANSEN CBS 5926 / CNCM I-745 reduces the frequency, the duration and severity of diarrhoea associated with antibiotics.
